Partner Papers vs the Extended Network

How Column works with different newspapers across the United States

What Is the Extended Network?

The Extended Network is Column’s nationwide placement service that enables an efficient notice placement across all newspapers in the United States

It allows you to publish notices in any properly adjudicated newspaper in the U.S.including both partnered papers that use Column to manage notices and extended network papers that have not formally partnered with Column - while managing everything through one centralized dashboard.

A properly adjudicated newspaper, in the context of public notices and legal publications, is one that has been officially designated by a court or relevant legal authority as a suitable outlet for such notices. This designation ensures the newspaper meets specific criteria, including regular publication, paid circulation, and general circulation within the relevant jurisdiction.

All notices placed through Column's Placement Services that involve Extended Network papers receive concierge-level support from Column’s Placement Team, who coordinate with publishers, track publication, and ensure affidavit delivery.

Key Differences

Partner Papers

These newspapers have signed up to use Column's platform to streamline their own affidavit and notice workflows.

  • Designed for self-serve users who place and manage notices directly through the Column platform.

  • Users maintain full control over the notice lifecycle, including placement, coordination, proof review, and affidavit retrieval — all within the Column interface.

  • Enjoy a faster, more automated experience thanks to Column's partnership and direct integration with these publishers

  • Support is available through Help Center articles, email, and live chat.

  • No Services fee applies when you place notices in Column's partner papers.

Extended Network Papers

These are newspapers that have not formally partnered with Column but are included in Column’s broader publishing network.

  • Column’s Placement Team acts as a concierge coordinator to handle:

    • Notice placement with the publisher

    • Follow-up and troubleshooting with the paper

    • Tracking publication and proof of publication

    • Affidavit management

  • Support is available via Help Center articles, email (placement@column.us), and phone at (518) 599-2725 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday to Friday.

What Does the Extended Network Cost?

A Services Fee applies to your notices when you're placing a notice in an Extended Network Paper through Column. This fee covers the hands-on operational work and white-glove service provided by Column’s Placement Team, including:

  • Manual placement with non-partnered newspapers

  • Publisher communication and follow-up

  • Ongoing publication tracking

  • Obtaining, verifying, and returning affidavits

  • Hands-on placement by our Services team

  • Communication and coordination with publishers

  • Ongoing tracking of publication status

  • Obtaining, verifying, and returning the publisher’s affidavit

Without the fee, the Extended Network would not be a sustainable offering. It ensures we can continue to provide high-touch support to customers who prefer this submission method.
