Understanding the Extended Network
Column Certified Publications vs the Extended Network
Understanding the Differences, Fees, and Benefits
What Is the Extended Network?
The Extended Network is Column’s most flexible and comprehensive public notice placement service.
It allows you to publish notices in any properly adjudicated newspaper in the U.S. — whether or not the publication is part of Column’s partnered (Column Certified) network — and manage everything through one centralized dashboard.
A properly adjudicated newspaper, in the context of public notices and legal publications, is one that has been officially designated by a court or relevant legal authority as a suitable outlet for such notices. This designation ensures the newspaper meets specific criteria, including regular publication, paid circulation, and general circulation within the relevant jurisdiction.
All Extended Network customers — whether submitting via self-serve, API, or email — receive concierge-level support from Column’s Services team, who coordinate with publishers, manage notice tracking, and ensure affidavit delivery.
Key Differences
Column Certified (Standard Experience)
These publishers are part of Column’s verified network and use our platform to streamline affidavit and notice workflows.
Designed for self-serve users who place and manage notices directly through the Column platform using Column Certified publications — newspapers that have partnered with Column for seamless workflows.
Users maintain full control over the notice lifecycle, including placement, coordination, proof review, and affidavit retrieval — all within the Column interface.
Enjoy a faster, more automated experience thanks to direct integration with partner publishers.
Support is available through Help Center articles, email, and live chat.
No Extended Network fee applies — Column Certified placements are included as part of the core platform experience.
Extended Network Support
These publishers aren’t on Column’s platform, but you can still place notices via our nationwide placement service.
Designed for users who submit notices via API or email without needing to log into the Column platform — as well as those who prefer to self-serve within our Extended Network.
Column’s Services team acts as a concierge coordinator to handle:
Notice placement with the publisher
Follow-up and troubleshooting with the paper
Tracking publication and proof of publication
Affidavit management
Support is available via Help Center articles, email, and phone at (518) 599-2725 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST.
Benefits of the Extended Network
Publish Anywhere: Place notices in any adjudicated newspaper, regardless of Column partnership.
Concierge Coordination: Our team manages the entire process, from placement to affidavit return.
Hands-On Support: We work directly with publishers to verify each step of the notice lifecycle.
Flexible Submission: Submit via email, API, or self-serve.
Centralized Dashboard: View and manage all notices and invoices in one user-friendly interface.
Ideal for High-Volume Filers: Legal service providers, government agencies, and enterprise clients benefit from a more streamlined, scalable process.
What Does the Extended Network Cost?
A $25 fee applies to placements through the Extended Network. The $25 fee offsets the manual coordination and white-glove handling required for notices placed through our Extended Network. Unlike the Column Certified experience, Extended Network notices require:
Hands-on placement by our Services team
Communication and coordination with publishers
Ongoing tracking of publication status
Obtaining, verifying, and returning the publisher’s affidavit
Without the fee, the Extended Network would not be a sustainable offering. It ensures we can continue providing high-touch support to customers who prefer this method of submission.
Payment Terms
Upfront payment is required for Extended Network placements.
