When will I receive my affidavit?

Edited

An affidavit is a legal document that serves as proof of publication. It is a legally binding verification that your notice successfully ran in the newspaper exactly as it was intended. Oftentimes, affidavits will need to be submitted to the courts after a notice’s publication.

You will receive your affidavit when:

  1. You have paid your invoice

  2. Your notice has passed its publication date(s)

  3. The affidavit has been signed and notarized

You will receive an email notification once the newspaper or Column uploads a digital affidavit. A copy of the affidavit will be attached to the email. Most affidavits can be expected within a week of the final publication date, but many are available within 3-4 business days.

Once uploaded, you can also view and download the digital affidavit under the notice details screen. Please see this help center article for more information regarding your Column affidavit, its legality, and our notarization process.

I requested a mailed copy - when will I receive it?

You can find the expected delivery date on your Notice Details page if you also opted to receive a mailed affidavit.

Mail requests are for printed copy of the digital affidavit uploaded to your Column account. States, counties and notice types that require a wet-signature affidavit will be mailed to the customer automatically.

If a mailed affidavit wasn't requested during the placement process, you can click to download and print the affidavit from this page. Click here to read more about the legitimacy of your digital affidavit.

Can I receive my affidavit before paying?

By default, you must have successfully paid for your notice to receive your digital affidavit.

If you need the affidavit before paying the invoice for your notice, email help@column.us. We will contact the newspaper on your behalf to request permission to access the affidavit before payment. Note that this is typically only permitted for government organizations.
