How can I make changes to my publication schedule?

Edited

You've already set your publication schedule in Column, which determines when your customers can place public notices. But what happens when you need to adjust your publication schedule, or make changes to accommodate holidays or other events?

In the Advertising Deadlines tab of My Organization settings, you can control your regular, weekly publication schedule and ad deadlines, as well as make one-time changes for specific dates.

Update your weekly publication schedule

In the tab labeled "Regular Deadlines," you'll see your publication schedule for each day of the week. If your publication is set to publish on a given day, you'll see a blue checkmark in the column labeled "Publishing." Otherwise, you'll see a gray circle with a line in the middle, indicating that you're not publishing on that day. For each publishing day, you can also see the advertising deadline day and time.

To make changes to your regular schedule, click the edit button under "Actions." As you make changes, you can see a preview for an example date of your choice in the right-hand side of the page. This preview will help you ensure that you're configuring the deadline correctly for that day. Make sure to click "Save" to apply the changes.

Note: Changes made to your regular deadline schedule will apply by default to all notices in your publication. To make one-time changes to your regular schedule, go to the "Schedule Changes" tab, as explained below.

Make one-time schedule changes

If you need to make a one-time change to your regular schedule — for example, to move the ad deadline two days earlier before Thanksgiving — you can do so in the "Schedule Changes" tab. Here's how it works:

  1. Click "Add Schedule Change"

  2. Select a publication date to change

  3. If you want to cancel publication for that date, toggle off "Will you publish?"

  4. If you want to schedule publication for that date, or change the ad deadline, toggle on "Will you publish?" and adjust the deadline date and time. Check the preview to make sure the deadline looks correct.

  5. Click "Create Schedule Change" to save

  6. When customers place notices for that publication date, the updated deadline will apply!

If you need to to edit or delete existing schedule changes, you can do so using the buttons under "Actions" in the Schedule Changes table.

Note: Only schedule changes for future publication dates appear in the Schedule Changes table.

FAQs

What happens if I cancel publication but notices are already scheduled for that date?

This is important! Before canceling a publication date, you should check to make sure there are no notices scheduled for that date. You can use the filter in the notices table to search by publication date.

How will my customers know I've made changes to the publication schedule?

When your customers go to place notices, any changes you've made to the publication schedule will apply when they select publication dates. That means that they will not be able to place notices for any dates you have canceled, and they will be able to place on any additional dates you have scheduled. Changes to ad deadline dates and times will also apply, restricting when your customers can place notices for specific dates.
