Why do I have to pay upfront?

Edited

Depending on the publication, some newspapers require customers to pay upfront before publishing their notice. If payment is not received by the due date and time, your notice may be canceled, or you will be prevented from paying online.

Please note that only online payment is accepted for notices requiring upfront payment. We recommend paying by credit or debit card. Linked bank accounts or ACH transfers can take a few days to settle. Please do not pay by check; they can take up to two weeks to arrive and be processed and often arrive after the payment due date.

When do I have to pay?

If upfront payment is required, the deadline will align with the publication deadline for the first publication date. The time to pay online will vary depending on when you submit your notice and when the invoice is issued. When the invoice is issued, the e-mail notification will include the due date and time and a payment link.

I used to pay after the notice was published. Why do I have to pay upfront now?

If you believe the upfront payment requirement for your notice is incorrect, please contact help@column.us. We will then coordinate with the publisher to confirm your billing terms.

Can you accept late payment?

It depends! If your notice is automatically canceled at the deadline, you must re-schedule your notice for a new invoice to be issued. To easily re-submit your notice, please see this Help Center article: How can I place the same notice again?

If your notice wasn't canceled by the deadline but the payment link is blocked, please contact help@column.us. We'll then contact the newspaper to see if they'll accept late payment.
