What does "invoiced outside Column" mean?

Edited

Is your notice marked "Invoiced Outside Column"? This billing status, visible in the notice table and notice details page, indicates that you can expect to receive a statement or invoice for your notice directly from the publisher.

If a notice is "invoiced outside Column," that means...

  • You won't receive an invoice in Column

  • You cannot pay through Column

  • The publisher will send you an invoice or statement outside of Column

  • Payment should be submitted directly to the publisher per your usual billing terms

Who receives invoices outside Column?

"Invoice outside Column" applies only to billable customers — customers who have accounts with the publisher and pay recurring invoices from that publisher. If you're unsure whether you have an account with a publisher, please contact the publisher directly.

When will I receive my invoice from the publisher?

That depends on the publisher's billing cycle! Please contact the publisher directly to ask when you'll receive your invoice or statement. Column does not have access to this information.

Can I submit payment through Column instead?

Nope — if your notice has been invoiced outside Column, the invoice will not be available for payment in Column. If you believe you were invoiced outside Column by mistake, please contact the publisher and ask them to create a new invoice for payment in Column.

When and where will my notice appear on the publisher's invoice?

Once again, Column doesn't have access to that information because each publisher has a different invoicing process for billable customers. Please contact the publisher to find out what billing period your notice will be included in and where on your invoice or statement you can find your notice.
