8/31/22 Release: Select newspaper in placement flow, manage organization members, and new billing status

Beta: Publishers Can Select Newspaper When Placing and Editing Notices!

We recently introduced a feature for duplicating notices — a quick and easy way to copy a notice or place an archived notice again. But for legals reps who manage notices across multiple papers, we learned that this feature would only be truly useful if publishers could select a different newspaper when placing or editing a notice.

Fear not, publishers — no longer must you go back and start the whole placement process from scratch. Newspaper selection has arrived for you, too.

  • Need to run the same notice in multiple newspapers? You can duplicate the first notice and select a different newspaper while placing its copy.

  • Did your customer place a notice in the wrong paper? You can edit their notice and select a different newspaper.

  • Did you click “Upload Notice” while viewing the wrong newspaper? You can pick a different newspaper before moving through the placement process.

Note: The select newspaper step is in beta, meaning it’s available for only a pilot group of newspapers. Once this feature moves out of beta, it will be available for all publishers who have access to more than one organization on Column. Click here to learn how to move a notice to a different paper.

Self-Serve Support: Publishers Can Now Easily Manage Their Staff In-App

Previously, publishers who worked for a newspaper group needed to reach out to Column for help managing organization access. For example, if a legals rep needed access to three newspapers under a company that included many more newspapers, only Column could configure their organization permissions. Now, publishers can do this themselves! Anyone with “Admin” access can add or remove members from specific newspapers in their company. This means leaders at publishing companies can make sure each individual team member has access to all newspapers or only a subset of newspapers. Plus, once you have access to one or more newspapers, you can make sure everyone you work with — from pagination to collections — has the access they need as well. More Visibility into Billing: Introducing the "Awaiting Invoice Creation" Status

Notices that don’t have invoices now show a billing status of “Awaiting Invoice Creation.” For advertisers, the old status read “Waiting for Publisher,” which left advertisers confused about when they could pay. On the publishers’ side, this status previously read “Incomplete,” which did not indicate clearly to publishers that they needed to create an invoice. We think the new status, “Awaiting Invoice Creation,” provides more clarity to everyone about what is actually happening in the billing lifecycle. With just a quick glance, both publishers and advertisers can understand that an invoice must be created before the advertiser can pay.
